Meet the Governors

Meet the members of our Local Governing Body

Chair of the Local Governing Body and Lead for Safeguarding - Anna Whitfield.

Vice Chair and Lead for SEND - Emma Newton.

Lead for Pupil Premium - Margaret Green.

The Local Governing Body meets every half term, we do not have a structure of committees as we feel it important all governors fully understand our school.

Anna Whitfield

Hi, My name is Anna Whitfield and I have been a school governor at Linden Road Primary School since June 2015, I am a community governor but I also have twin boys at the school. I wanted to become a governor because I want to contribute to the life of the school and be constructive, informed and involved. I have worked managing a team of Youth Support Workers helping young people in Manchester overcome barriers to getting into education, employment or training, My hope is that some of those skills and some of that experience will benefit Linden Road Academy. When I'm not working or racing round after rascals, I love reading, rock pooling, dancing and eating popcorn!

Margret Green

Live: Denton Job: Pharmacy Technician at Tameside hospital I became a governor in October 2012 I am a parent governor with 2 children at the school. What I like about Linden Road is that the staff are extremely professional and approachable. Parents are definitely listened to.

Fran Bradshaw

My role on Linden Road’s Governing Body is as the Teacher Representative. This complements my day to day role as Vice Principal and coordinator of English, Key Stage 2, Well-being and the curriculume as it means I am able to discuss matters related to these areas with governors and make sure they have a complete picture of what is happening in school. Away from school I am a busy mum of two beautiful daughters and own a busy poodle.

Andrea Ives

Education is one of my many passions and after a career as a Food Technologist, designing food products for the high street supermarkets, I retrained as a teacher and have never looked back. I have worked in both primary and high schools, and for a number of years worked for the Local Authority helping school leaders develop the quality of their provision. In my spare time I love to spend time travelling, cooking and walking my fabulous Pug, Winston. A perfect weekend is spent with my family and a good book.

Emma Newton

Parent and SEND Governor

My name is Emma Newton and I have been a parent of the Linden Road community for many years. I relish the opportunity to become more involved in the academy and hope to be able to bring years of experience in management and as a volunteer to complement the staff, governors and trust. It is my passion to ensure children are able to access an education they deserve without barriers

Amy Dewar

I am Amy Dewar and I'm the Year 5 Teacher at Linden Road Academy. After undertaking a degree in Law, I decided to enter a career in education. After completing my PGCE in Manchester, I have been teaching full time across KS2 and have enjoyed every minute! I wanted to join the governors because I understand the importance of being part of a team, whereby all views and suggestions are ultimately a great benefit to the children whom we teach.
