This was hosted at Curzon Ashton.

The students in the squad were Jamie-Leigh Walsh, Jessica Shah, Georgia Hancock, Cassie Wilson, Maliah O’Toole, Natalia Wood and Skye Ryan.

In the first game Linden Road played Broadoak school and we started the game brightly scoring a goal within 2 minutes courtesy of Skye finishing under the keeper from close range. This meant that Linden Road started with a 1-0 win. We played straight after this game against Moorside and tiredness showed as the game ended in a dour 0-0 draw. In our final game, we played against local rivals St John Fisher. Linden Road peppered the St John Fisher goal but could not find a way through a resolute keeper. In St John Fisher’s only attack of the game they managed to score a goal, however, Linden Road never give up and after a fantastic shot from Maliah O’Toole lifting the ball over the keeper’s head from 15 yards we managed to return the score line to a draw. With seconds remaining we almost snatched the win with a mesmerising run from Jamie-Leigh but the finish just lacked the power to beat the keeper.

Overall, the girls showed fantastic courage, sportspersonship, teamwork and encouragement towards themselves and others.

We are extremely proud of the effort of everyone and you are a credit Linden Road.

Goal of the match was scored by Maliah O’Toole.

Player of the match voted for by team was Skye Ryan.

Player of the match from Mr Coleman was Jamie-Leigh Walsh.

#lindenlegends
, 05 Feb 2017 17:42:18 GMTSlapped Cheek Syndrome
We have had some students suffering from Slapped Cheek Syndrome.

Only keep your child off school if they are unwell. They used different techniques, adding sound effects and voice overs. All the films were part of the '2014 Film Festival' and were awarded different awards, from creativity to best film.

Children arrived at the film festival along their very own red carpet, walk of fame and to the screams of the paparazzi, clicking away with their cameras! The experience was made more realistic by the children dressing for the 'Oscars!'

{gallery:Year 6 Oscars}
, 20 Aug 2014 17:45:16 GMTYear 6 Trip to Kingswood March 2014
Apologies for the lack of updates but this is down to intermittent wifi at Kingswood

Photos from Kingswood can be viewed on the Gallery section of our website

Day One

We arrived safely to glorious sunshine!! Bed making was interesting but everyone eventually managed it with no staff support, even though some of them don't look like actual beds!

We meet the team of instructors who will be looking after us, played mad games loudly then Straight into our first activities: aero ball and climbing.

Aero ball! After the laughter of watching Mrs Bradshaw and Mrs Bell trying to get into the trampoline, all you could hear was laughter as the games began.

Climbing! Some children thought no! But with encouragement everyone went up the wall, many conquering their fears and many reaching the top!

A delicious roast dinner and apple crumble for tea before scrap heap challenge tonight!

Day Two

Early morning, as most of the children wanted to shower!! And no they weren't forced to. Breakfast, oh yes!!

9.15 came and we were all ready to start our morning activities.
Nightline, the children had to communicate as they had all lost their sight! Everything would have been okay if it wasn't for the pesky squirrels, who kept tickling the children!

Quad biking, nervous children zoomed around the track, conquering their fears (sorry parents many of them now want them for Christmas).

More food, tuck shop before more activities!

Low ropes, after Mrs Bell threw water over herself and Mrs Bradshaw threw it over a child everything was great. The children worked really hard supporting and communicating with each other.

Archery, Mrs Speak AKA Maid Marion, earned herself and Miss Mees a full set of cutlery. Children had to concentrate to be able to eat their evening meal, shooting on target to gain a knife, fork and spoon.

Power climb, wow we thought we were Spider-Men! (The staff anyway) but how wrong we were! A challenging activity where the children encouraged each other to climb higher than they did before!

More food! This time limited cutlery for some, but they all managed to each a full meal.

Chilling now in their dorms, before the mini Olympics start in 15 minutes.

Day Three

Well day 3 has been eventful and full of laughter!

It started with a cracking breakfast to set us up for the day! Hash browns and sausages! Yum Yum!

It has been a fun packed, glorious day, with zip wire, orienteering, problem solving, team challenge, fencing and caving. The children have shown how supportive and encouraging they can be when their class mates are stood at the top of a 40ft zip wire about to take the leap! They all made it to the top and many took the step.

The children have been fantastic conquering fears and challenging themselves.

The new arrival of other schools has given them the opportunity to make new friends. Just chilling before tonight's campfire with roasted marshmallows and hot chocolate!
, 20 Aug 2014 17:46:24 GMTBeanstalk - Volunteer Readers
Our vision is a nation of children who can read and grow up to lead successful lives.

Susan Belgrave: Improving children's literacy for forty years..

The 88-year-old from Dorchester, was nominated for the Daily Mail Inspirational Women of the Year Awards for her work with the Beanstalk charity 40 years ago and has helped 80,000 children improve their literacy...

You can see the video here.
, 20 Aug 2014 17:48:44 GMTFamily Craft Sessions
Family craft sessions
, 20 Aug 2014 17:49:44 GMT
